One of the commonest causes for failure of an otoplasty is the telephone deformity. The telephone deformity is where the middle part of the ear sits close to the mastoid bone [skull] and the top and the bottom of the ear are very prominent. This causes the ear to look like a telephone.

Dr Robinson has a continuing interest in research in FESS (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery) and is very happy to announce that he is about to begin a research trial into cilary function in the nose. Cilia in the nose work together to move particles of matter from the front of the nose to the back of the nose. These cilia can become damaged in certain circumstances.
